A trip To the Shanrgi La in the Maldives was exactly what I had hoped for! the island was absolutely amazing. Everything was so pretty!
The small plane landed on an island which was about a 10 minutes boat ride from the Shangri La. We were greeted with champagne as soon as we got off the boat and escorted to our room. Our room was amazing, 2 separate beach villas with a private pool in between. steps from either villa lead directly onto our private beach. From here we had a 50m stretch which took us directly to the beautiful aqua coloured sea! It was unbelievable.
When I wasn’t relaxing, or taking in the view, the island offered many different activities to keep you occupied. A spa, with a wide range of treatments was always available for the less adventurous, or for those who wanted to indulge in a pampering session. However for me, I need to be active. There was a gym, with a full time personal trainer, who was very good!
Other Activities I took up included Deep sea fishing, scuba diving and Jet skiing. All of these were an extra charge, but certainly worth it. Most days involved a swim out with a snorkel as well, where I managed to see turtles, an eel and many other aquatic life.
On an evening there is a cocktail bar, with a live DJ on the sea front, with an excellent selection of house, and classic cocktails, just be careful riding your bike back to your villa afterwards!! The food on the island was average to good. They didn’t change the menu while we were staying, for two weeks, but the seafood BBQ was a real highlight on a weekly basis! Overall I would say The Shangri la was a great place to stay, and it was sad to leave.
